Falkland Islands Holdings announces expanded Share Incentive Plan for its staff

The Falkland Islands Company has announced the expansion of its tax efficient share plan (Share Incentive Plan or SIP) which is open to all its 180 full time employees. The company believes in share ownership by staff and the public company status of its parent company, Falkland Islands Holdings plc (FIH), allows local staff to benefit from this in a meaningful way.

Falklands' HMS Illustrious back in Portsmouth for the final time; HMS Ocean to replace her

The Royal Navy's helicopter carrier and Falklands' conflict veteran HMS Illustrious has returned to Portsmouth for the final time. Crowds lined the port to welcome the warship, which will retire after 32 years of service. The carrier, which clocked up 898,893 miles on operations, will be replaced by HMS Ocean, which has just received a £65m refit.

Falklands' largest ever squad competing at Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

Commonwealth Games take off in Glasgow, Scotland on Wednesday with the Falklands squad the largest the Islands have ever sent to the Games. Falklands will be competing in Badminton, Lawn Bowls and Shooting. The Games are estimated to have a global audience of 1.5 billion during the lavish opening ceremony.

Falklands/Malvinas: strong support from China in joint declaration with Argentina

Daniel Filmus head of the Argentine Foreign ministry office on Issues related to the Question of Malvinas, underlined the support from China to Argentina' sovereignty claim over the disputed Islands, which was “clearly expressed” in a joint declaration signed by Presidents Cristina Fernandez and Xi Jinping, currently on a visit to several Latin American countries.
