  Falklands Government agrees to contract extension for the supply of Management Services at FIPASS

  

  Following the meeting of Executive Council on Tuesday 25 April it was agreed to extend the contract between the Falkland Islands Government (FIG) and Atlink for the management services to FIPASS until February 2028.

  Petro critical of Western powers and NATO during speech in Madrid

  

  Colombian President Gustavo Petro was welcomed with honors in Madrid by King Felipe VI and jeered at by Vox opposition lawmakers who left the Spanish Congress when the South American leader was to deliver his message. The South American head of state also denounced the United Kingdom's “invasion” of the Falkland Islands, and those of the United States in Santo Domingo, Grenada, and Panama.

  Schools in Mar del Plata to be named after 1982 war fallen

  

  Public schools and kindergartens in the Argentine beach resort and port of Mar del Plata will be named after local combatants fallen in the 1982 Malvinas War, it was announced Monday. The initiative was approved unanimously by the City Council.

  Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2022, the Lighthouse Seafarers Mission in Port Stanley is a focal point and necessary ground zero for onshore welfare support for seafarers in the Falklands. However, the Mission is also working with the Falklands fishing companies and the Islands' government somehow to ensure sustainability and development through a funding mechanism.

  Falklands Veteran urges PM Sunak to declassify documents of the bombing of Sir Galahad and Sir Tristram

  

  Falklands war Veteran and hero Simon Weston has urged PM Rishi Sunak to declassify documents about the attack that left him disfigured and killed 56 British servicemen. According to a piece published in the Daily Express, Justin Stoneman recalls that when Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels Sir Galahad and Sir Tristram were bombed in 1982 by Argentine jets, it was one of the deadliest days for UK forces since the Second World War.
