  Falklands tells MPs of its concern with registers of beneficial ownership

  Role of the Falklands in the development and success of British Antarctic Survey

  

  The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) celebrated 60 years of scientific research in Antarctica as the UK’s national operator. BAS evolved from the Falkland Islands Dependency Survey (FIDS), following on the success of Operation Tabarin 1943/46 involving SS Fitzroy from the Falkland Islands. This week's event took place during the marking of Antarctica Day on December first.

  UK Government and Royal Family, 'huge champions' in support of Falklands' sovereignty and self determination

  

  Visiting members of the Falklands All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) reminded Falkland Islanders that they had huge champions in the UK Government and Royal Family during a recent press conference. However Tory James Sunderland MP admitted that “the level of knowledge amongst most MPs about the Overseas Territories is quite limited,” but this does nothing to affect the support for the Islands.

  Rockhopper Exploration South Falkland Basin licenses extended for two years

  

  Rockhopper Exploration oil and gas company which last year agreed to jointly develop the Sea Lion project at the North Falkland Basin with Israel's Navitas as leading financer and operator, announced that following discussions, the Falkland Islands Government had agreed to extend the company's licenses at the South Falkland Basin.

  Falklands paper on climate change and oceans' biodiversity accepted at the COP 27 summit in Egypt

  

  The Falkland Islands presented a paper on climate education to the COP 27 summit meeting in Egypt which was accepted as part of a presentation to a hub on climate change consequences and possible solutions. Marine Scientist Dr Narissa Bax from the South Atlantic Environmental Research Institute (SAERI), made the presentation during her attendance of COP27.
