  Reappointments made to the Marine Management Organization Board

  

  Solicitor, Falkland Islands former Attorney General and SAERI Chair Peter Judge MBE, together with David Lyall have been reappointed to the Board of the Marine Management Organization. MMO has a wide range of responsibilities, which include implementing plan-led marine management, licensing marine works, and managing UK fishing fleet capacity and UK fisheries quotas.

  Princess Anne visits MPC and meets Falklands' residents at a reception

  

  Princess Anne during her third day in the Falkland Islands was at Mount Pleasant Complex, where she was able to meet military staff from the different services and observe much of the equipment deployed to ensure the defense of the Islands and the security of the international airport, the air bridge linking with UK.

  New trawler-freezer to join Falkland’s squid fisheries in 2024

  

  Shipbuilders Nodosa from Marin in Galicia, Spain has formalized the construction of a new freezer trawler, for Orion Fishing Company Ltd., an association of Pereira SA from Vigo with the Falkland Islands Argos Group Ltd. The new trawler is scheduled to be delivered in 2024.

  Princess Anne leads Remembrance ceremony at Falklands Liberation Memorial

  Acoustic research by wildlife charity, Falklands Conservation (FC), and the non-profit African Aquatic Conservation Fund (AACF), has revealed seasonal singing by sei whales in the Falkland Islands, documenting a breeding song display in this Endangered cetacean for the first time.
