Dow Jones industrial average revamped: Alcoa, BofA out, Nike, Visa, Goldman Sachs

The Dow Jones industrial average, one of the world's best known measures of stock market performance, is having a revamp. Alcoa, Bank of America and Hewlett-Packard are being dropped from the index of the top 30 US companies. From 23 September they will be replaced by Goldman Sachs, Nike and Visa.

Argentina confirms that the Malvinas question has become a Latinamerican strategy issue

Javier Figueroa head of the Malvinas Desk at the Argentine Foreign ministry said that it is strategic to make the “Malvinas question” a Latinamerican issue. Figueroa made the statement during a meeting of Central America and Caribbean Malvinas Solidarity groups which opened Thursday in Havana.

US Supreme Court on September 30 will consider if it hears Argentina’s appeal on hedge funds

The US Supreme Court will use its Sept. 30 private conference to consider whether to hear Argentina’s appeal in a clash affecting billions of dollars in defaulted debt. The schedule, revealed on Wednesday on the court’s public docket, means the justices may say as early as Oct. 1 whether they will review a 2012 federal appeals court ruling that requires Argentina to pay holders of defaulted bonds if the country makes payments on restructured debt.
