    The Falkland Islands Meat Company (FIMCo) has announced the appointment of their new Business Improvement Manager. Michael Ledwith is to start this month on a new full-time contract, tasked with implementing change at the Sand Bay plant, “bringing peak performance through operational efficiency and productivity in the business,” according to information from FIMCo.

    Foreign Office planning to ban drilling and mining offshore BOTs in South Atlantic

    South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands are home to more than 3 million penguins, along with fur seals, elephant seals and various species of whale.

    British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson is expected to institute a ban on fishing, drilling and freight transport in British overseas territories in the South Atlantic in an effort to protect wildlife in the area. The South Sandwich Islands, which plays host to Antarctic scientists but has no permanent residents, lie around 1,500km east of the Falkland Islands.

    The Canadian aerospace firm which faced damaging import tariffs on one of its jets has won a trade dispute in the United States. The UK government had suspected that Bombardier would lose and unions feared sales and UK jobs connected to the C-Series would be hit. But in a surprise ruling, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) rejected a complaint brought by Boeing.
