    Falklands/Malvinas: Red Cross head of project has arrived in the Islands

    Laurent Corbaz, head of the project for the ICRC, arrived on Saturday to the Islands. The rest of the team is expected to join him in the coming weeks.

    The International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC, has reported that final preparations are underway ahead of work to identify the mortal remains of the unidentified Argentine soldiers buried in Darwin cemetery at the Falklands/Malvinas. Laurent Corbaz, head of the project for the ICRC, arrived on Saturday to the Islands. The rest of the team is expected to join him in the coming weeks.

    Falklands: Goose Green commemorates 35th Liberation day

     Goose Green Village Hall where Islanders were imprisoned when the Argentine Military Junta took over the Islands in 1982.

    Falkland Islanders who were held prisoner in the Goose Green Community Hall by the invading Argentine forces in 1982, joined with members of the British 3 PARA to commemorate those who died during the battle to liberate the settlement which happened at 13:30 hours May 29th.

    Brazilian police arrests close friend and aide of president Temer

    Prosecutors allege he was handling a bribe from a businessman who had been recorded discussing hush money with President Temer.

    Brazilian police have arrested Rodrigo Rocha Loures, a former congressman and close friend of President Michel Temer. Rocha Loures was seen in a video released in May carrying a bag with 500,000 Brazilian Reais (US$154,000).

    US unemployment down to 4.3% in May, but fewer jobs were added

    Payrolls increased by just 138,000. Economists had expected growth of more than 180,000. Official job creation figures for March and April were also revised down.

    Six people killed and 48 injured in terror incident in London; three attackers shot dead

    Six people have been killed and at least 48 injured in a terror incident in London in which three male attackers were shot dead by police. A white van hit pedestrians on London Bridge at about 22:00 BST on Saturday, then three men got out and stabbed people in nearby Borough Market. Police said the three men were wearing fake bomb vests.

    Nomura Securities admits having purchased Venezuelan government bonds

    The bonds at the centre of the controversy were originally issued by Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), the state-run oil and natural gas company, in 2014.

    Japanese investment bank has admitted it was part of a controversial deal with Goldman Sachs to buy Venezuelan government bonds. Nomura Securities said it also bought about US$100m worth of the bonds last week, according to Reuters reports. Goldman Sachs has faced fierce criticism for its purchase of $2.8bn worth of similar bonds.
