  Chilean President wants free elections in Venezuela next year

  

  Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font Tuesday called for free elections in Venezuela and said he was willing to sponsor dialogue between the administration of President Nicolás Maduro and the opposition. He also said he hoped Venezuela would soon once again participate in multilateral forums.

  “Comrade” Ralph Gonsalves becomes new Celac pro tempore president

  

  Upon closing the VII Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) in Buenos Aires, Argentine President Alberto Fernández Tuesday handed over the pro tempore presidency of the forum to the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Everard Gonsalves, who is notorious for his closeness to the governments of Cuba, Venezuela and also Nicaragua.

  First steel cut on second Type 31 Frigate, HMS Active

  As the Russian invasion of Ukraine drags into another year, the country's Red Cross chief Raksym Dotsenko, admitted it faces a “huge” humanitarian challenge. Pence himself had asked one of his lawyers to search the house as a precaution after confidential papers were detected at President Joseph Biden's residence from his time at the White House under Barack Obama.

  Former Guatemalan President Álvaro Colom (2008-2012) died Monday at the age of 71. The cause of death has not been disclosed, although it was known that Colom was being treated for esophageal cancer.
