  Argentine magistrate orders Executive to release poverty figures; government says judge is 'meddling'

  

  An Argentine magistrate ordered the Executive to present official reports on the extent of poverty and indigence in the country, figures which allegedly the much questioned stats office, Indec ceased to release almost two years ago. However cabinet chief Anibal Fernandez ironically downplayed the order arguing the judge was 'meddling' in something she does not know.

  Appeals court hands victory to Argentina in bonds dispute; questions Judge Griesa's 'class' expansion

  

  A United States federal appeals court handed Argentina a victory Wednesday in its quest to relieve itself of the pressures of debt owed to American hedge funds and others, saying a judge went too far by letting some bondholders demand payment without proving how much they are entitled to be paid.

  Cyanide spill in Argentine Andean mine triggers strong protests from local residents

  

  Residents of a town in the Argentine northwestern province of San Juan took to the streets in protest after an industrial malfunction caused a pipe carrying potentially lethal cyanide to the nearby Veladero gold mine to fracture and spill an amount of its contents in the area on Sunday. The news reached national level on Monday.

  Aerolineas Argentinas expropiation returns to haunt Cristina Fernandez

  

  The Argentine government and its economic crimes bureau, Procelac, filed on Monday a complaint against Spanish group Marsans for an alleged move to “sell” a lawsuit filed before the World Bank’s ICSID over Aerolineas Argentinas and Austral expropriations, to Burford Capital, a speculative fund. ICSID stands for International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes.

  Tierra del Fuego August inflation, 2.3% and 28.4% in the last twelve months

  

  The consumer price index in Tierra del Fuego, extreme south of Argentina climbed 2.3% in August, totaling 17.4% in the first eight months and 28.4% in the last twelve months, according to the province's stats and census office.

  Cristina Fernandez celebrates Corbyn as “the triumph of hope”

  

  Argentine President Cristina Fernández congratulated Jeremy Corbyn for the victory in the elections of Britain’s Labor Party calling him “the great friend of Latin America” and for supporting dialogue with London to discuss the sovereignty of the disputed Falklands/Malvinas Islands.

  Argentina's inflation slowing but still comfortably on the two digits

  

  According to Argentina's stats office Indec, consumer prices during the month of August climbed 1.2% over July, 9.4% in the eight months and 14.7% in the last twelve months. These numbers however are quite different from private consultants' estimates and the City of Buenos Aires stats office: 2.17% and 1.8% inflation for August, respectively.

  Cristina Fernandez wants Argentina in BRICS and asks Lula da Silva to act as the lobbyist

  

  President Cristina Fernández called on Brazil’s former president Lula da Silva to become Argentina’s “ambassador” to help it join the group of emerging countries known as BRICS, acronym for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Lula is currently campaigning in support of incumbent presidential candidate Daniel Scioli, and the so called 'Kirchner' model that 'transformed Argentina'.

  The United Nations General Assembly has approved a resolution put forward by Argentina regarding sovereign debt restructuring, which seeks to limit the movement of speculative funds in influencing such actions.
