  The full main runway at the Falkland Islands Mount Pleasant Airport has re-opened after the completion of resurfacing works covering 3,000 meters, the British Forces South Atlantic Islands, BFSAI, command announced this week.

  Falkland Islands cruise vessels' humanitarian operation

  

  The Falkland Islands Government announced on Monday it is assisting a number of cruise vessels seeking to repatriate their passengers to other countries through air charter flights. Working with our partners at the British Forces South Atlantic Islands, a policy has been put in place that allows this humanitarian operation, while still protecting our population from COVID-19.

  Falklands' patrol HMS Clyde undergoing maintenance work in South Africa

  

  The Falklands’ permanent guard ship, HMS Clyde is undergoing refurbishment work at the South African naval dockyard in Simon’s Town in her first overhaul in five years. The vessel (P257) arrived in Simon’s Town on 22 December, and is scheduled to depart again on 20 February.
