  Volatile cruise market: regular lines with rebates of up to 19%, but premiums can be 60% higher

  

  Good news: prices for many cruises in January 2019 are significantly lower than they were a year ago. However, there are major differences by cruise line. While the analysis found that the average cruise price per day actually increased by around 3% – from US$ 397 to US$ 407 per person per night – it also showed substantial price discounts for certain cruise lines.

  Stranded Le Soleal cruise passengers fly home; Cruise line reviews schedules

  

  The 222 passengers of the stranded Ponant's Le Soleal cruise vessel finally left from Punta Arenas airport over the week end terminating their several days unexpected adventure which started last Wednesday when the vessel suffered damages in attempting to reach the port of Natales, in southern Chile.

  With support from the Chilean Navy, French cruise Le Soleal with 222 passengers, anchored on Wednesday some twelve kilometers from Puerto Natales, in southern Chile fiords' region, following an accident while navigating along the Kirke channel.

  L'Austral, sister of Falklands-incident Le Boreal, makes inaugural call in Gibraltar

  

  The smallest but possibly most exclusive cruise liner to visit Gibraltar this year pulled into port on Thursday. The L’Austral, a French liner, is also the first to make an inaugural call this season. The captain of the ship, Olivier Marien, was met by the Minister for Tourism and the Captain of the Port on board.

  Representatives from Gibraltar have attended the annual Seatrade Cruise Global Convention took place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The event, which took place between March 14-17, brings together professionals from in all aspects of the cruise industry, including cruise lines, ports and ground handlers.

  Le Boreal cruise passengers will be leaving Falklands over the weekend

  

  The Falkland Islands Government confirmed on Friday that travel arrangements are now in place for the crew and passengers who were evacuated from the stranded cruise Le Boreal on Wednesday 18th November, to return home. Two flights have been coordinated, one departing Saturday and the following on Sunday.

  Falklands' cruise rescue operation live-tested and successfully completed

  

  Passengers and crew forced to abandon a cruise ship due to a fire in the engine room causing loss of power, were all safe and without injury in Stanley yesterday morning. This followed a complex rescue and care mission comprising British Forces from Mount Pleasant, Government emergency services, the ship’s agents Sulivan Shipping and with support from local farmers.

  Falklands' cruise incident: all passengers safe and 90 hosted in Stanley

  

  With support from a Royal Navy patrol, the Royal Air Force Search and Rescue helicopters and Falkland Islands emergency services, hundreds of passengers have been rescued from the French flagged mega yacht Le Boréal after it issued a distress call on Wednesday early morning to the north of the Falkland Islands.
