  HMS Protector heading for Antarctica after surveying Tristan da Cunha waters

  Fifty Falklands veterans at Stanley’s Remembrance Sunday commemoration

  

  Remembrance Sunday, November 11, was celebrated in the Falkland Islands capital, Stanley with a service at Christ Church Cathedral, followed by a march to the Cross of Sacrifice, the Memorial to all those who laid down their lives for Britain in war, where a service of remembrance and thanksgiving was held in warm and sunny weather.

  Sir Rex Hunt, the former governor of the Falkland Islands during the Argentine invasion which triggered the South Atlantic conflict of 1982 passed away in England on Remembrance Sunday.

  Thanksgiving service at the Liberation Monument in Stanley

  

  The Memorial service commemorated the 30th anniversary of the Liberation of the Falkland Islands by British Forces, 10 weeks after they were invaded by Argentina. 252 British Servicemen were killed during the action, plus 3 Island ladies.

  Drastic changes in UK forces: Territorial Army will be deployed in the Falklands

  

  UK Defence Secretary Phillip Hammond signalled Thursday morning that members of the Territorial Army will be deployed to the Falkland Islands. Addressing the House of Commons Secretary Hammond said that reserve forces will be expected to fulfill new roles including contributing to standing commitments such as the Falklands.
