The Falkland Islands Tourist Board annual assessment of TripAdvisor ratings shows that the overall satisfaction of visitors to the Islands increased in 2019. There are almost 5,000 ratings of accommodation, attractions, pubs, restaurants, and tours in the Falklands on TripAdvisor, with 600 of these being posted over the last 12 months.Add your comment!
Leisure tourist arrival in the Falkland Islands reached 1,650, during the 2019-2020 season, up almost 7% on the previous year reports Steph Middleton, Executive Director, Falkland Islands Tourist Board.
Despite being cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, 2019-2020 proved to be a record-breaking cruise season in the Falkland Islands. A total of 72,836 cruise passengers arrived in the Islands, up 16.5% on the previous season.
Perhaps fittingly the King Penguin was chosen as number one in the Falkland Islands Tourist Board’s (FITB) 7 Wonders of the Falklands survey. Over the last three months FITB has asked past and present visitors to the Islands, as well as residents, what they would consider to be their seven wonders.

Falkland Islands tourism ambassadors Steph Middleton and Carli Sudder are returning from the United States after attending this year’s International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators (IAATO) conference in Newport, Rhode Island. Steph Middleton is Executive Director of the Falkland Islands Tourist Board, while Carl Sudder is Tourism Coordinator at Sulivan Shipping and Chair of the Falklands Travel Association.
Government House was a welcoming venue on Tuesday night for the presentation of the Falkland Islands Tourist Board’s annual awards. In addition to the hopeful contenders from across the industry there were most of the 28 newly qualified tour guides waiting to receive certificates.
The Falkland Islands Tourist Board (FITB) launched its new website earlier this week. Acting CEO of FITB Stephanie Middleton said: ”We are delighted to finally launch this site. It is driven by a detailed database of accommodation, restaurants, shops, attractions and events, which allows us to make changes and keep it fresh on a regular basis.
The Falkland Islands Tourist Board are pleased to announce that the Falkland Islands won the best destination award in the Wave Awards in London; finalists in this category included Abu Dhabi, Akureyri, Dublin, Palma, Santa Cruz and Seattle.
