  Falklands defend their right to self-determination at UN Decolonisation Committee in New York

  

  Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly members, Mike Summers and Gavin Short, speaking early today at the Special Committee on Decolonisation at the United Nations in New York argued that the Falkland Islands and its people have the right to determine their own future. Argentine Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra is scheduled to present Argentina’s case to the C24 claiming Argentine sovereignty over the Falkland Islands later this afternoon.

  Falklands will be making their case before the UN C24 this week

  

  The Falkland Islands and Argentina will be making their case on Thursday in New York before the United Nations Special Decolonization Committee, or C24, an annual event where the Islanders demand recognition of their right to self determination, as clearly expressed in the UN charter for all peoples of the world.

  Falklands contract seasonal foreign workers to boost dwindling local force

  

  A group of road workers are expected to start arriving in the Falklands Islands in early December to boost the dwindling local force. Falklands' Director of Public Works Colin Summers said that efforts to obtain agency workers were progressing well with up to nine workers sourced to be split between the FIG Highways Section and the Quarry.

  Falklands' MLAs confident they can 'educate' UK politicians who have swallowed the Argentine story

  

  Falkland Islands elected lawmakers believe that the election of MP Jeremy Corbyn as leader of Labor would be harmful for that party, but anyhow they are confident that as happened before, they can 'educate' detractors who argue that Britain and Argentina should negotiate over the Falklands.

  Falklands want to be good neighbors and have closer links with Latin America

  

  The Falkland Islands and its people want to be 'good neighbors, have trade links, cooperation agreements and closer relations with the southern cone of South America, but 'without losing our identity', said Falklands lawmakers to Punta Arenas Prensa Austral that was present at the celebrations last Saturday for the 250th anniversary of the first flying of the Union Flag in the Islands marking the beginning of British rule.

  Falklands names Islander, civil engineer, as next head of Public Works

  

  The Falkland Islands Government announced the appointment of Islander Colin Summers as the Director of Public Works, who will succeed Manfred Keenleyside when he retires later this year.
