  Falklands, “an indescribable mix of emotions and experiences”

  

  A group of Brazilian academics, students and journalists recently visited the Falkland Islands, invited by the local elected government. One of the visitors, Guilheme Lacerda wrote a small piece in the social network about what the describes as an incredible experience.

  Illex 2016 Fishing Season begins in Falkland’s Waters.

  

  Fishing for Illex squid in Falkland’s water took off on Sunday, as the 2016 fishing season opens. A total of 105 fishing licenses have been issued. The number of licenses issued has remained consistent for the past three seasons.

  Falklands approves Noble and Premier plans to drill Rhea-1 and Jayne East

  

  The most recent meeting of the Falkland Islands' Executive Council (ExCo) was dominated by matters relating to oil exploration and development including recommendations for plans of Noble Energy and Premier Oil to go ahead with drilling of Rhea-1 and Jayne East wells.

  Falklands' MLAs confident they can 'educate' UK politicians who have swallowed the Argentine story

  

  Falkland Islands elected lawmakers believe that the election of MP Jeremy Corbyn as leader of Labor would be harmful for that party, but anyhow they are confident that as happened before, they can 'educate' detractors who argue that Britain and Argentina should negotiate over the Falklands.

  “Another example of efforts to damage the Falklands' economy”

  

  The Falkland Islands government reacted strongly to statements by the Argentine official in charge of Malvinas affairs who claimed that “the theft of squid and other valuable fish stocks” in the South Atlantic, was the reason behind the success of the Islands' economy, according to a report from the Express.co.uk.

  “It is the duty of C24 to acknowledge the rights of the Falkland Islands and not support those who covet our territory”

  

  The Falkland Islands' long journey from a colony to a self governing, financially autonomous territory, was underlined on Thursday, by lawmaker Phyl Rendell in her presentation to the United Nations Special Decolonization Committee. But so was the fact that advancing development, and relations with the continent are always under threat from Argentina, “who makes no secret of wanting to control our territory against our wishes”.

  Falklands delegates will again ask Decolonization Committee to delist the Islands

  

  Falkland Islands elected lawmakers with be delivering speeches on Thursday before the United Nations Decolonization Committee as petitioners requesting C24 de-lists the Islands from the Non Self Governing Territories, upholds the Falkland Islanders right to self determination and frees them from the continuous Argentine bullying and harassment.

  Falkland Islands' elected lawmakers received assurances in Washington that US neutrality in the sovereign dispute with Argentina does not imply any denial of the Falkland Islanders right to self determination.

  Falklands: “We are an Overseas Territory, very content with the status and endorsed in the 2013 referendum”

  

  The Falkland Islands are very pleased with their current political and democratic status based on the UN charter and confirmed in the 2013 referendum, enjoy a prosperous economy with emphasis on social policies and environment conservation and have good neighborly relations with nearby countries, except for Argentina that “continues to ignore our people's right to self-determination and covet our territory”.

  Falklands' reports on two Taiwanese jiggers man-overboard incidents

  

  The Falkland Islands government has informed that there have been two separate man-overboard incidents reported this week concerning a total of nine crewmen from two Taiwanese fishing vessels.
