From Friday 11 May to Sunday 13 May 2018, Members of the Falkland Islands elected Legislative Assembly visited West Falkland to give a series of presentations on The Islands Plan 2018 – 2022.
The Falkland Islands Government has announced that on 3 May 2018, £5,000 was donated to the Royal Foundation in celebration of the birth of His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.
Wednesday marked the opening ceremony of the 21st Commonwealth Games which are being held from 4 -15 April at the Gold Coast in Australia. This is the tenth Commonwealth Games that the Falkland Islands have participated in and this time they will be competing alongside more than 6,600 athletes and team officials from 70 Commonwealth nations and territories.
Busy summer for the Falkland Islands elected lawmakers: eight Members of the British Parliament are visiting the Islands, next week British ambassador in Uruguay plus Foreign Office members are scheduled for talks with local authorities, Premier Oil briefed MLAs on the Sea Lion development, and government and MLAs will be holding an “away day” at Darwin to address the Islands Plan draft.
The Falkland Islands will be sending a team of 26 competitors and officials to the 21st Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast Australia in April. Two sports will be represented: badminton and various shooting disciplines and the whole event will run from April 4 -15.
