President Cristina Fernandez Victory Front candidate for Tierra del Fuego Rosana Bertone will be the next governor of the province, after rival Federico Sciurano conceded defeat in the race to succeed Fabiana Ríos. With 70.9% of ballot stations counted Victory Front senator Bertone led with 50.1% of votes compared to 46.52% for Sciurano, from the opposition led coalition.

Results from Tierra del Fuego in the extreme south of Argentina put Victory Front senator Rosana Bertone on course for victory in Sunday's governor's election, although she will have to face a run-off with second-placed Federico Sciurano. Argentina's Tierra del Fuego provincial government decided on Wednesday to preventatively suspend Pesantar's fishing license following claims that the company is associated with another group operating in the South Atlantic but with a Falklands' government license.
