  Why Falklands are not extended the right to self determination: “shame on G24”

  

  Since 1961 the UN Committee of 24 has brought almost 750 million people out of a colonial status, based on their right of self-determination, but “what a shame it won’t extend this same right to another 2,500 people of the Falkland Islands”, said US born Luke Coffey, member of the Heritage Foundation and one time advisor to the UK Defense ministry.

  Foreign minister Hector Timerman and Malvinas affairs Secretary Daniel Filmus, made the official presentation of the book “Malvinas Argentine sovereignty; 50 years since ambassador Ruda's speech” which recalls the fiftieth anniversary of the first Argentine presentation on the question of the Malvinas Islands before the UN Decolonization Committee, or C24.

  Malvinas: Chile reiterates support for Argentina's claim through dialogue

  

  Foreign minister Heraldo Muñoz reiterated on Wednesday Chile's support for Argentina sovereign rights over the Falkland Islands, Georgia and South Sandwich Islands during a meeting with visiting Daniel Filmus, head of Argentina's desk relative to Malvinas and other South Atlantic Islands affairs.

  Malvinas Museum incorporates San Martin letter referred to links with South Atlantic Islands

  

  The Malvinas Islands Museum in Argentina has incorporated a letter allegedly handwritten by Liberator General Jose de San Martin and dated August 1816, a month after Argentina formally declared independence (07/09/1816) in which he mentions having given instructions to liberate prisoners in Patagones (Patagonia) and Malvinas Islands so they can join the Andes army.

  Falklands/Malvinas: strong support from China in joint declaration with Argentina

  

  Daniel Filmus head of the Argentine Foreign ministry office on Issues related to the Question of Malvinas, underlined the support from China to Argentina' sovereignty claim over the disputed Islands, which was “clearly expressed” in a joint declaration signed by Presidents Cristina Fernandez and Xi Jinping, currently on a visit to several Latin American countries.

  Argentina received strong support on Thursday at the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonisation (C24), which met in New York to discuss the Malvinas Question, according to a release from the Argentine embassy in London.

  Falklands reminds C24 it is not charged with determining sovereignty disputes

  

  Addressing the United Nations Decolonization Committee (C24) on Thursday, Falkland Islands representative MLA Mike Summers reminded the C24 not only of its current duty, but also of its inability in the past to fulfill its obligations to the Non Self Governing Territories (NSGT) it should be assisting to reach a post-colonial status acceptable to the people who live there.
