  Falklands' sovereignty bilateral talks requested by leaders' summit in Mexico

  

  Argentina managed to include a special statement on the Falklands/Malvinas question, at the end of the Ibero American leaders summit held in Mexico, calling on both sides of the dispute, Argentina and the UK, to resume negotiations, in the shortest time possible, to reach a peaceful solution to the sovereignty dispute over the Malvinas, South Georgia, South Sandwich islands and surrounding maritime spaces.

  Argentina and Brazil elected to the UN Economic and Social Council

  

  Argentina and Brazil were elected by the United Nations General Assembly as members of the UN Economic and Social Council, ESOCOC for a period of three years beginning next January first. Argentina received 182 out of 186 votes.

  World Bank supports Argentina, favors institutional frame for 'holdouts'

  

  World Bank Chief Economist for Latin America and the Caribbean Augusto De la Torre has said the ongoing conflict between Argentina and holdout creditors is due to the “lack of international debt regulation frames”, and favored Argentina's initiative in the UN to “solve the situation.”

  Matthew Rycroft has been appointed as UK Permanent Representative to UN
