“Nordnorge” opens Bs. Aires 2007/08 cruise season

Norwegian flagged vessel Nordnorge opened this week in Buenos Aires the Argentine cruise season which will extend until April 2 next year and include at least 99 calls of major cruise vessels, according to the local Tourist Office.

Chile Summer time begins midnight Saturday when clocks have to be advanced sixty minutes. This leaves Chile three hours behind Greenwich meridian time, GMT.

“This is New York” campaign targets 50 m. tourists by 2015

Tourists love New York and lots of them visit the Big Apple but the city says that's not enough so it is spending big money on a new ad campaign. The goal is to attract 50 million tourists a year by 2015 with the slogan “This is New York”.

Forty new aircrafts, and four A380, for Aerolineas Argentinas

Grupo Marsans the largest tourism and transport group in Spain announced this week it has ordered 73 Airbus aircraft, including four new A380 “Superjumbo”, for its Air Comet and Aerolineas Argentinas fleets.

600,000 Skiers on Chile's slopes this season

This past winter's unusually cold weather in Chile's central valley had at least one benefit – the mountains were covered in snow, attracting some 600,000 skiers and snowboarders. This figure represents an 11 percent increase compared to the previous season when 522,000 visitors hit the slopes.

South Georgia expects busiest cruise season ever

South Georgia is preparing for the busiest cruise ship season ever which is scheduled to begin October 25th with the arrival of “Nordenorge” with 300 passengers, reports the SG government. However the tourist season starts with five yachts (three of them with expedition groups) due to arrive as of October 11th.
