    Magallanes Region retains second lowest unemployment rate in Chile

    Despite a 1.2 percentage points increase to 4%, Magallanes region is below Chile's national average of 6.6% unemployment

    Unemployment in Magallanes Region, extreme south of Chile reached 4% in the March/May quarter, which is 1.2 percentage points higher than a year ago, and 0.3 percentage points more than the previous mobile quarter, according to the latest report from the country's Stats Office, INE.

    Employment gains in June were made across a number of sectors, particularly business services, health care, retail, financial activities and transportation

    US employment rose by 223,000 in June, while the April and May figures were revised down, official figures show. May's figure was revised from a rise of 280,000 jobs to a rise of 254,000, according to the US Labor Department.

    Chile insists with Pacific Alliance/Mercosur intelligent convergence

    Chile will insist at the two-day Pacific Alliance summit which took off on Wednesday in Paracas, Peru, that a convergence with Mercosur is needed to ensure the integration of Latina America, and this is more evident now that both groupings face similar challenges such as falling prices for commodities, normalization of US monetary policy and an international context of slow growth.

    Brazil reported a primary budget deficit for May that was its widest for 2015, making its annual savings goal more difficult to achieve despite government efforts to raise taxes and cut spending. Central bank data showed a primary budget deficit of 6.9 billion Reais ($2.23 billion). This compared with a primary surplus of 13.445 billion Reais in April.

Those are a few of the countries that have missed payments to the IMF as Greece did Tuesday, when it failed to make a loan payment of about 1.5 billion Euros, or $1.7 billion, to the fund.

    Brazil celebrates the opening of the US market for its fresh beef

    Brazil expects to export 100,000 tons of beef to the US in the next five years. Abreu said the decision is like “getting a pass code” to access other markets.

    U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced Monday that it is amending its regulations to allow imports of fresh (chilled or frozen) beef from (Argentina) and 14 states in Brazil. It's “the first step in a process for these regions to gain access to the U.S. market for beef”, the APHIS said in a statement.
