Gibraltar's Attorney General appointed to FIFA's Ethics Committee

The Government of Gibraltar has warmly congratulated Michael Llamas QC upon his appointment as Europe's representative in the highly prestigious and important Ethics Committee of FIFA. Llamas joins other highly distinguished lawyers and judges who will form part of the Ethics Committee. These include a former President of the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Qatar Airways, the FIFA official airline through the year 2022

A new partnership between FIFA and the Qatar state-run airlines was announced. As part of the agreement Qatar Airways will be an Official Partner and the Official Airline for the world soccer body. The 2017 and 2021 Confederation Cups and the 2018 and 2022 World Cups are included in the partnership. The 2022 World Cup will be hosted by Qatar.

Chaotic concert in Argentina leaves two dead, a dozen injured and some teen agers still missing

Two people were killed and over a dozen were injured when spectators rushed the stage at a chaotic outdoor rock concert in Argentina. The deadly crush of fans was blamed on lack of crowd control at Saturday's event featuring popular performer Indio Solari in the town of Olavarria.
