  Collector’s coin to mark the 100th anniversary of the Falklands ‘Governor’s Cup’

  

  The Falkland Islands Government have released a collector’s coin which marks the 100th meeting of the Stanley Sports Association, the annual Horse racing event of the season that has taken place since 1908 on Boxing Day, the day after Christmas.

  Argentine ambassador summoned over ‘intimidation’ to cruise lines calling in Falklands

  

  Britain summoned Argentina's ambassador to London on Monday after masked men ransacked the offices of a shipping company in Buenos Aires, a move the Foreign Office alleged was aimed at deterring ships from visiting the disputed Falkland Islands.

  Cable and Wireless Monaco and Islands division sold to Bahrain Telecoms

  

  Cable and Wireless Communications have announced the sale of the majority of its Monaco and Islands division which includes the Falklands. The company has accepted 680m dollars (£420m) from Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) for the division which operates broadband and telephone lines.

  Senior members from the Falkland Islands government have left for Norway and the Shetland Islands on an experiences-fact-finding mission as the Islands prepare for oil production in the near future.

  Unasur summit rejects Falklands’ referendum and wants to limit ‘vulture funds’

  

  The Union for South American Nations (Unasur) agreed to limit the actions of ‘special situation funds’ (hedge funds or ‘vulture funds’) and categorically rejected a referendum that will take in place in the Falkland Islands in March to decide the political status of the archipelago, during the summit that took place in Lima.

  Excellent weather for “Seabourn Sojourn” on her Friday Falklands’ call

  

  Despite claims by the Argentine media that the Bahamas flagged cruise vessel “Seabourn Sojourn” had no plans to visit Falklands the 431 passengers on board have enjoyed a wide range of tours around the Islands after they anchored in Port William, just outside of Stanley Harbour on Friday at 9am.
