Nicola Granger appointed Financial Secretary for the Falklands government

The Falkland Islands Government announced this week the appointment of Nicola Granger to the post of Financial Secretary for the Falkland Islands Government. Ms Granger steps into the role permanently from the Head of Finance Position when Keith Padgett became Chief Executive.

Four different “ecotypes” of killer whales spotted in Falklands waters

To many, the killer whale, also known as orca, is considered the panda of the sea (a not-so-cuddly black and white ocean beast). Whale scientists have been particularly busy over the last 20 years studying the killer whale and we now know a whole lot about this species or, as it turns out, possibly several species.

Foreign Office flies Gibraltar flag on Rock’s Day; last June 14 it was the Falklands’ flag

The Foreign Office will fly the Gibraltar flag on Monday, National Day in its building along Whitehall. Foreign Office ministers David Lidington and Mark Simmonds, respectively the ministers for Europe and the Overseas Territories, have said they welcome the raising of the Gibraltar Flag over the FCO in Whitehall to mark Gibraltar Day.
