    New wharf for South Georgia: extra berth for polar vessel RRS Sir David Attenborough

    Petrobras and Falklands lead in FPSO deployments in South America

    A floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs) currently operating off the coast of Brazil

    Globally, 67 planned and announced FPSOs (Floating, Production Storage and Offloading) are expected to start operations between 2019 and 2025. Among regions globally, South America continues to lead with 27 planned and announced FPSO additions by 2025, followed by Africa and Europe. Brazil and the Falkland Islands are the key countries in the region for FPSO deployments. Among operators, Petrobras leads South America in terms of FPSO deployments.

    A very emotional ceremony took place last Wednesday at Goose Green in the Falkland Islands in remembrance of those who gave their lives for the freedom of the small community which had been locked up by the invading Argentine forces in 1982.

    Britain’s Premier Oil increased its 2019 production guidance on Thursday, saying output had been boosted by efficiency measures and a late sale from its now-divested Pakistan oil fields. The company said it now expects output to reach 75,000 to 80,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) this year, from up to 75,000 boed previously.
