Falklands prepares for Ebola threat situation; vessels from high risk areas will undergo 21 day clearance period

In response to a possible Ebola threat situation the Falkland Islands government is focusing on prevention at this time but with good contingency plans also being laid down as a back up to a possible outbreak.

HMS Liverpool is on its way to be broken up at a Turkish scrap yard. The Type 42 destroyer, nicknamed “Crazy Red Chicken” after her red Liver Bird badge, was built by Cammell Laird in 1982 and after 30 years’ service was finally laid up at Portsmouth Naval Dockyard, on March 30 2012.

“ M.V.Ushuaia” was the Falkland Islands first cruise ship visitor this season, arriving last Friday morning ready to greet their guests from Natural World Safaris on Saturdays LAN flight. The group of 81 had a chance to spend some free time on their arrival in Stanley, before boarding their ship.

Falklands' patrol HMS Clyde tested in full operational exercises

September and early October has been a busy five weeks for the smallest ship in the Royal Navy with a flight deck. HMS Clyde is tasked with patrolling the Falkland Islands whilst also monitoring the airspace that covers the wider area, and routinely visits the many small settlements that feature around the Islands.
