  For the sixth time Exxon and partners at the Stabroek block offshore Guyana are celebrating another major find in northern South American waters. In effect, Ranger-1 exploration well, the sixth find since discovering Liza in 2015, hit approximately 70m of high-quality, oil-bearing carbonate reservoirs some 60mi northwest of the Liza development.

  Millions of Britons are being encouraged to say they were sick while on holiday, according to the Association of British Travel Agents. A poll carried out for ABTA suggests that 19% of all holidaymakers may have been approached by a claims management company on their return home.

  Record sales in 2017 for Jaguar and Land Rover; China and US leading markets

  

  The UK's biggest carmaker, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), has said sales hit a record high last year. The company reported Jaguar sold 178,601 cars, up 20% on the year before, while Land Rover sales rose 2% to 442,508. JLR said sales had more than tripled since 2009.

  Europe and Mercosur scheduled to resume trade negotiations this month

  

  The European Commission and Mercosur are planning to resume negotiations to reach a new Association Agreement during this month. The Commissioner of the European Trade Commission, Cecilia Malmström, stated that, after the last negotiating round, which took place in early December, and after the attempt to reach an agreement in the framework of the last round of the World Trade Organization (WTO), held from 11 to 14 December, the agreement was very close and would be reached in a matter of weeks.
