Argentine central bank anticipates volatility in the money exchange market

Argentines will have to get used to the volatility of the money exchange rate, advised Central Bank president Federico Sturzenegger on Wednesday when the US dollar (a sacred reference for Argentines) reached a new historic high above the 20 Pesos. YPF plans shale oil and gas production to increase 35% during 2018

Argentina’s state-owned oil company YPF SA expects shale oil and gas production to grow 35% in 2018, as costs in the Vaca Muerta shale play continue to fall, Chief Financial Officer Daniel Gonzalez said. Still, declining production in mature fields means overall hydrocarbon output will fall 2 to 3% in 2018 after a 5.3% reduction in 2017, Chairman Miguel Gutierrez said.

Argentine seafood exports in 2017 totaled 475,591 tons and US$ 1,8bn

Argentine seafood exports grew by almost 7% in volume and around 16% in dollar value during 2017, according to the final figures published by the Under-secretariat of Fisheries in its latest Report. Data from the Economics Department, based on information from INDEC shows that fisheries exports totaled US$ 1,978bn, a 16.4% higher compared to 2016, while the volume was up 6.9% to 475,591 tons.

Falklands: Argentine tombstones with the names of identified soldiers should arrive Sunday

An Argentine charter is scheduled to land in the Falkland Islands this Sunday carrying the plaques (tombstones) with the names of the 88 now identified Argentine soldiers buried in the Darwin cemetery following a DNA forensic identification process during last year, led by the International Red Cross.
