  Falklands, new Commander (Artillery) of British Forces South Atlantic Islands

  

  A new Commander of the British Forces South Atlantic Islands (CBFSAI) has been appointed. Brigadier Charlie Harmer took up the role from outgoing CBF Brigadier Daniel Duff on Saturday, June 13, one day before the Falkland Islands’ Liberation Day celebrations.

  Falklands, new engineering support for HMS Forth and MPC

  

  In the windswept South Atlantic, the Naval Engineering Falkland Islands (NEFI) team has consistently been an important supporting element of the Royal Navy’s regional operations, mainly with HMS Forth stationed at MPC. Marking a major change in their organizational structure, the former NEFI team has become part of Forward Support Unit (FSU) Archimedes.

  RAF’s Tranche 1 Typhoons in Falklands until at least 2027

  

  The United Kingdom has retired from service most of its remaining early model Tranche 1 Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft, retaining only a small number to provide air defense for the country's South Atlantic Overseas Territories, that is the Falkland Islands, according to Janes, a renowned defense and security intelligence website.

  Falklands Patrol Vessel company passes with flying colors emergency training

  

  The Falkland Islands Patrol Vessel, HMS Forth has been put through its paces during her recent FOST assessment (Fleet Operational Standards and Training). Comprising of various training situations, including casualties, fires and floods, the Ship’s Company must respond quickly and correctly under the watchful eye of the assessors.

  Falklands, new energy vision should reach 100% renewable by 2045

  

  A new vision for how the Falkland Islands will achieve its energy ambitions has been approved by Executive Council. The new Energy Strategy and Implementation Plan outline the path for the Falkland Islands to reach 100% renewable energy provision by 2045.

  MPs visit to Falklands, “highlights longstanding bond between FIG and UK”

  

  With Westminster in recess two delegations of MPs visited the Falkland Islands last week. One of them, was invited by the members of the Falklands elected Legislative Assembly and was made up of Richard Baker MP (Labour, Glenrothes and Mid Fife); Seamus Logan MP (SNP, Aberdeenshire North and Moray East); Jamie Stone MP (Liberal Democrat, Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross); and Andrew Mitchell MP (Conservative, Sutton Coldfield).
