  British and German embassies commemorate 100 years of the Battle of Coronel

  

  British and German Embassies in Santiago organized a commemoration event to mark the 100 years of the Battle of Coronel, off the coast of Chile. A hundred years ago November first 1914, one of the first Naval battles of the First World War between the Royal Navy and the German Navy took place 50 miles off the coast of Coronel.

  A tugboat from the Chilean Navy equipped for environmental emergencies is trying to determine the position where the remains of the Chinese factory ship Kai Xin went down in Antarctica last week after catching fire and left adrift by the 97 member crew rescued by a Norwegian vessel and a reefer.

  Chile purchasing an 11.300 tons amphibious assault ship from the French navy

  

  France and Chile are in the last stages of the transfer of the amphibious assault ship ‘Foudre’ to replace the decommissioned multipurpose ‘Valdivia’ that was extensively used for the transport of troops and military equipment, reported the Chilean navy.

  Chilean Navy incorporates largest vessel ever: a 42.000 tons logistics supply unit

  

  The Chilean Navy incorporated this week its largest unit, a 42.000 tons tanker, AO-52 “Almirante Montt” which will play a vital role in supplying the surface fleet. The tanker was purchased from the US Navy and will replace AO-53 “Araucano” decommissioned after forty years service.
