    Anniversary ceremony of the 1914 Battle of the Falkland Islands

    Falkland Islands will commemorate the 8th December 1914 Battle of the Falkland Islands with a talk on Wednesday and a full program next Saturday. This Wednesday at the Historic Dockyard Museum, David Bailey will be giving a talk on the Battle of Colonel, and of the Falkland Islands.

    Falklands' Swearing in Ceremony for Governor Phillips on 12 September

    Designate governor Nigel Phillips served in the RAF from 1984 until 2000, and has since then worked in a number of defense attaché roles in British Embassies.

    The Falkland Islands elected government, Gilbert House, has announced that the Swearing in Ceremony for the Governor Designate, Mr. Nigel Phillips CBE will take place in the Court and Assembly Chamber, Stanley, on Tuesday 12th September 2017 commencing at 09:00 hrs.

    Falklands governor will deliver the Queen's Commonwealth message

    A full program of activities has been planned for this Monday, Commonwealth Day, by the Falkland Islands government. Students and staff from the Falklands Community School will raise the Commonwealth Flag at 08:00, and an hour later the Falklands Junior School together with Defence Force, FIDF, officers will raise the Commonwealth Flag on Victory Green, and the Speaker is to read the Commonwealth Affirmation.

    HM Commissioner hosts South Georgia stakeholders on 12-day visit

    The visit takes place on board the Government’s logistics and fishery patrol vessel MV Pharos SG and will have a particular focus on the natural environment.

    HM Commissioner for South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands, Colin Roberts CVO, departed this week for a 12-day visit to the UK Overseas Territory accompanied by representatives of some of South Georgia’s key stakeholder organizations.     Falkland Islands elected government has announced the following program for Thursday 8th December 2016 to commemorate the victory of the Naval engagements of 8th December 1914, on which day 6 British sailors lost their lives and a number of others died later from injuries received during the battle. 2,260 German sailors also lost their lives.

    Falklands commemorates 34th anniversary of Liberation Day

    A ceremony is held at the Liberation Monument each year on the 14th June to mark the end of the Falklands War and to honour those who fought during the conflict, and was lead by Parade Commander Major

    Commemorations are being held today in the Falkland Islands to mark the ending of the Falklands War, which ended 34 years ago after 74 days of Argentine occupation. Liberation Day as it is officially known in the Falklands is commemorated every year on the 14th June in the Islands and is a national holiday.
