    A Positive Outlook for the Falklands at FIA's annual general meeting

    The Falkland Islands have received assurances of sustained support from the British Parliament and from the Falkland Islands Association at that organisation’s annual general meeting in London where members were given a positive report of progress and economic development in the Islands.

    Malcorra said British PM Cameron's gesture of phoning president Macri can only be described as positive.

    Argentina's next foreign minister Susana Malcorra, who will have the task of reestablishing relations with 'all countries', including those with which there are pending or difficult situations, made it a point to underline British Prime Minister David Cameron's gesture of phoning president elect Mauricio Macri to congratulate him on his victory.

    Falklands' Battle Day, 8 December 1914, Act of Remembrance

    Governor Colin Roberts will arrive at the Battle Memorial and will inspect the Parade. After the inspection there will be a Service of Remembrance.

    The Falkland Islands will commemorate this Tuesday 8th December, the naval engagements of 8th December 1914, one of the Royal Navy's greatest victories during the First World War, which resulted in the sinking of a German imperial squadron that threatened to capture the Islands.

    Falklands' Battle Day commemorated in London

    Battle Day was commemorated in the traditional manner at the Cenotaph in central London on Saturday 5th December. The traffic was stopped in Whitehall, and the service was conducted by former Rector of Christchurch Cathedral in Stanley the Rev. Dr. Richard Hines.

    London and BOTs reaffirm right to self determination and “countering hostile sovereignty claims”

    The JMC, which brings together UK ministers and leaders of BOTs including the Falkland Islands, met at Lancaster House hosted by minister Duddridge

    The United Kingdom and British Overseas Territories have agreed to work together to counter hostile sovereignty claims and defend the right to self determination, according to a communiqué issued by the Joint Ministerial Council meeting in London which also touches upon the EU Referendum, tax and banking.

    Argentine ambassador in London, Alicia Castro was a guest speaker at the Latin America conference held at the TUC headquarters, alongside other well known political and trade union figures.Her speech was met with a standing ovation from an audience of over 500 British attendants, whom she thanked for supporting Argentina on the Malvinas Question and in the litigation with the speculative or 'vulture' funds.

    Queen's honour for Spaniard who helped develop Falklands' fishing industry

    Spanish citizen Jose Antonio Cordeiro Otero has received the Falkland Islands’ Queen’s Certificate and Badge of Honor in recognition of his services to the Falkland Islands and particularly for his work in the fishing industry. The award was presented by the British Ambassador Simon Manley during a ceremony at the Ambassador’s Residence in Madrid.

    Falklands based British Forces rescue cruise passenger injured in South Atlantic

    Royal Navy and Royal Air Force personnel based in the Falkland Islands have conducted a long range rescue of a British man from a Russian cruise ship. The MV Akademic Sergei Vavilov was visiting South Georgia, 800 nautical miles to the east of the Falklands, when the man was bitten by what is thought to have been a fur seal at Salisbury Plain Beach.

    Falklands' right to self determination reaffirmed in UK's defense and security review

    The British government reaffirmed its support for the Falkland Islands and its right to self determination as part of the recently announced Strategic Defense and Security review 2015, which pledges an extra increase £12bn of spending on defense equipment - part of London's £178bn overall defense equipment and support budget during the next decade.

    Falklands/Malvinas link of future Argentine foreign minister

    A Falklands/Malvinas link has emerged from the naming of Susana Malcorra as Argentine president-elect Mauricio Macri Foreign minister. According to reports in the Buenos Aires media, UN's Ban Ki-moon Secretary General cabinet chief is not the only outstanding Argentine national working for the UN in particularly sensitive issues such as Disarmament Affairs.
