  The Junta de Andalucia has distanced itself from Spanish foreign minister Jose Manuel García Margallo’s joint sovereignty proposal for Gibraltar. Miguel Angel Vasquez says now is not the time to use inflammatory rhetoric or to talk about joint sovereignty.

  Spain anticipates closed frontier if Gibraltar does not accept joint sovereignty

  

  Spain's Acting Foreign Minister says free movement across the Gibraltar frontier will automatically end unless Gibraltarians accept joint sovereignty proposal with Spain. Jose Manuel Garcia Margallo was answering a question by Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation at a press conference after he met with Andalusia politicians in Algeciras, including the mayors of Algeciras and La Linea. From Seville Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo said no democratic nation would get away closing a frontier.

  Spain asks Latin American countries support for Gibraltar's sovereignty claim

  

  Spain has, for the first time ever, asked the annual Iberian-Latin American Summit for its support on the Gibraltar sovereignty question. It has asked the Colombian Government, as the organizers of the 28/29 October event to circulate the text for the summit to adopt a resolution for the resumption of sovereignty talks over Gibraltar.

  Gibraltar takes its “Brexit” concerns to the Scotland's ruling party conference

  

  Gibraltar Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Joseph Garcia has said it should be possible for different parts of the British family of nations to enjoy varying degrees of participation with the European Union in the future. Dr. Garcia was speaking in Glasgow during the Scottish National Party conference, in the presence of Scotland’s Minister for Europe and International Development Dr. Alisdair Allan MSP.

  Rajoy and May held a productive meeting with strong message to Scotland

  

  Gibraltar was touched on fleetingly during the meeting between Prime Minister Theresa May and her caretaker Spanish counterpart, Mariano Rajoy, in Madrid. A Spanish wire report quoted anonymous sources in the Spanish Government saying that Rajoy had set out the Spanish position during a wider discussion on Brexit.

  Gibraltar attends SNP conference in Glasgow: shares Brexit concerns

  

  Gibraltar's Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia is in Scotland to attend the conference of the Scottish National Party (SNP). The event opened in Glasgow on Wednesday and this is the first time that Gibraltar will have an exhibition stand. It is also the first time that the Gibraltar Government will host an official reception.

  Prime Minister Theresa May will meet Spain’s caretaker Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, in Madrid on Thursday for talks on a range of issues including Brexit. It’s “No way, Jose”, so get used to it”, was the direct and clear message from Chief Minister Fabian Picardo to the Caretaker Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia Margallo who on Wednesday night vowed to “plant his flag on Gibraltar”.

  “No way José”, Gibraltar replies to Spain's shared sovereignty with UK proposal

  

  Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo said that all the potential economic benefits from joint UK/Spain Gibraltar sovereignty could exist today if Spain respected the Gibraltarians' choice not to be Spanish. The statement was in response to Spain's formal invitation to the UK to commence joint sovereignty negotiations on Gibraltar.

  London confident of a Brexit deal “suitable and adequate” for Gibraltar and UK

  

  United Kingdom's International Trade Secretary Liam Fox has said he is confident a Brexit deal could be struck that “will get a suitable and adequate response to the problems we face” both for Gibraltar as well as for the UK.
