  Falklands oil explorers Rockhopper Exploration and FOGL completed merger

  

  Two leading firms in Falkland Islands offshore oil exploration have completed their merger, it was announced on Monday.

  Falklands' reveals oil at the Isobel/Elaine project and several adjoining fans

  

  Rockhopper Exploration and Falkland Oil and Gas Ltd have confirmed a significant oil discovery at the Isobel/Elaine project to the north of the Falkland Islands. According to a release from the companies the new 14/20-2 well was a ‘re-drill’ of the prior Isobel Deep well which had to be abandoned prematurely due to operational issues despite encountering oil.

  Falkland Oil and Gas Limited, FOGL, one of several international companies involved in the Falklands' oil industry, announced on Monday that the 14/20 Isobel 2 well was spudded by Premier Oil as operator on Saturday, 21 November.

  Falklands' Humpback exploration well results delayed until September

  

  Falkland Oil & Gas Ltd told investors that drilling of the deep water Humpback exploration well in South Falkland basin has run into delays. They were described as ‘unforeseen equipment and operational issues’ and it has added just over a month to the schedule – to about 100 days from 65 planned days – so the well results are now expected during September.

  Falklands oil explorers replace costly drilling in the south-east basin

  

  Three oil explorers drilling in the Falkland Islands, including Houston based Noble Energy have shelved plans to drill a second well in the south and east Falklands following the steep drop in oil prices, one of the partners said on Monday. Partners, which also include London-listed Falkland Oil and Gas (FOGL) and Edison International, said they would continue drilling in other parts of the region.

  Falklands oil exploration rig moves to Isobel Deep, following Zebedee drilling success

  

  Following its success with the Zebedee drill, the rig Eirik Raude is moving a short distance to start the second well of the latest Falkland Islands exploration campaign. The next target of the current four prospects exploration campaign is Isobel Deep, later followed by Jayne East and finally Chatham.
