  Argentina hosts UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism in Mendoza

  

  To highlight the relevance of wine and gastronomy as key components of tourism development, the 22nd UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism was held in Mendoza, Argentina on 29-30 September. The Conference was co-organized by UNWTO and the Ministry of Tourism of Argentina, in collaboration with the Region of Mendoza and the Chamber of Tourism of Argentina.

  United opposition in Mendoza province defeats CFK's ruling Victory Front

  

  Argentina's opposition Radical Party (UCR) seized back Mendoza province (one of the country's five main electoral districts) after their Cambia Mendoza alliance, led by Alfredo Cornejo, defeated the Victory Front (FpV)’s Adolfo Bermejo, and had 48% of the vote at press time, 10 points more than the Peronist hopeful. Bermejo is a close ally of President Cristina Fernández.

  YPF announces discovery of conventional oil well in Mendoza: 15m barrels

  

  Argentina's nationalized YPF has discovered a new conventional oil well in the western Mendoza province, which will add 15 million barrels of crude to its reserves. Initial production at the El Manzano bloc and the Mirador del Valle x-1 well at 1,789 meters deep is expected to be around 535 barrels per day, the company said.

  Another Argentine province cancels oil concessions to Spain’s held YPF

  

  The Argentine province of Mendoza joined on Friday other oil producing areas of the country in cancelling concession contracts which has been awarded to the Spanish owned oil corporation Repsol-YPF, with which the government of President Cristina Fernandez is involved in a controversy over long term investment.

  YPF finds oil south of Mendoza; source estimated in 40 billion barrels

  

  Energy company YPF announced the finding of conventional oil at the Cuenca Neuquina, in the Chachahuén bloc, at the Southern area of Mendoza province, that is equivalent to 40 million barrels.

  Potassium mining project that could make Argentina top exporter is suspended

  

  The government of the Argentine province of Mendoza is studying documents presented by Vale that could allow the Brazilian miner to continue with a 4.6 billion US dollars potassium project, said an official in Mendoza.
