Who pays for the uniforms worn by the Governors of British Overseas Territories was discussed in UK Parliament last week, with Minister of State stating that since 2001, the policy “has been that those Territories wishing to keep their ceremonial uniforms pay for them themselves,” and currently the “Governors of Bermuda and Falkland Islands retain the uniform, both funded by their respective Territory governments.”
The BACTEC demining team was welcomed back to the Falkland Islands with a reception last Tuesday evening, hosted by the recently arrived Governor Nigel Phillips at Government House.

A farewell parade for the Falkland Islands outgoing governor, Mr Colin Roberts CVO, will be held on Sunday July 16, on Stanley's Victory Green and Ross Road, according to a release from Gilbert House, seat of the Falklands elected government.
Mr Nigel Phillips CBE has been appointed Governor of the in succession to Mr Colin Roberts CVO who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Phillips will take up his appointment in September 2017.
