Falkland Islands Government strongly condemns Argentina’s decision to refuse permission for Brazilian airlink

In a Monday release, the Falkland Islands government condemned Argentina's refusal of over flight permission for the air link with Brazil and accused Buenos Aires of denying the Islands self-determination, ”enforcing sanctions on our people and another attempt to isolate us from South America and impede our economic development.”

Commercial air link Falklands/Chile scheduled to resume 2nd July. Ticket booking begins

Following the announcement made on 7 April 2022, the air link between the Falkland Islands and Chile will resume on Saturday 2 July 2022. LATAM flight schedules will be reinstated with flights stopping in Punta Arenas and Santiago, and once a month stopping in Rio Gallegos.

The Falkland Islands currently have an only air link which is the air bridge with the United Kingdom twice a week, since the commercial flights from Chile and Brazil managed by Latam, have been suspended at least until the end of July.

The purchase of tickets in Argentina to the Falklands, South Georgia and South Sandwich islands will not the subject to the 30% tax recently approved by the Argentine Congress and extensive to all overseas travel. The decree with the details is expected to be published in the Official Gazette later this week, according to the Argentine federal tax revenue office, AFIP.
