  Falklands' delegation in UK meets oil representatives, trade partners, ministers and MPs

  

  Members of the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly along with the Chief Executive Barry Rowland visited the UK in mid-May to undertake a number of meetings with the oil industry, trade partners, Government officials, ministers, and parliamentarians.

  Falklands' lawmakers travel to the UK to address a long agenda including Brexit

  

  This month five Falkland Islands lawmakers, elected Members of the Legislative Assembly, according to a release from the Islands' government are travelling to the UK to have a series of key meetings with the oil industry, trade partners and UK parliamentarians, and to reiterate the need for a good deal for the Falkland Islands in the context of continuing Brexit negotiations.

  Falklands startled at Westminster paper proposing UK citizens right to vote in Overseas Territories

  

  “Belongership” and its equivalents are wrong,” it is emphatically stated in a startling paper from the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee. The paper says the belongership status (known as Falklands Status in the Falklands) as enshrined in the constitutions of a number of British Overseas Territories, including the Falklands, denies legally-resident British Overseas Territory and UK citizens the right to vote and to hold elected office.

  Falklands considers preliminary studies into developing salmon farming

  

  The Executive Council of the Falkland Islands discussed a proposal to consider salmon farming in the Falklands. The proposal sought authorisation for Government officers to negotiate a Letter of Intent with the Danish company, Pisco ApS, to evaluate whether conditions in the Islands would be adequate to support the development of salmon fish farming.

  Falklands approves application to register a new build trawler

  

  The Falkland Islands Executive Council on Wednesday granted the application by Jupiter Fishing Company to register a new build fishing trawler. The agreed name of the new vessel is Argos Cies, which reflects the 50:50 partnership in Jupiter between Argos Group Ltd of Stanley, Falkland Islands and Armadora Pereira SA of Vigo, Spain.
