    A major cruise line with ships that call on the Caribbean will have to pay a US$40 million penalty, the largest-ever for crimes involving deliberate vessel pollution. The sentence has been imposed on Princess Cruise Lines Ltd by US District Judge Patricia Seitz in Miami, for illegally dumping oil-contaminated waste overboard and falsifying official logs to conceal the discharges.

Ascenson island, in mid Atlantic, is a crucial call point for the long airbridge to the Falklands.

    It's going to be a busny winter for the Falkland Islands. The government has announced that due to repairs required to the Ascension Island runway, the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) is temporarily rerouting the South Atlantic Airbridge via an alternative location. The UK air bridge from Brize Norton to the Falklands normally calls at Ascension Island both ways.

    Dr. Dao incident makes United Airlines chane policy on last minute seats for staff

    Law enforcement officials dragged Dr Dao off a flight departing from Chicago because it was fully booked, and the airline wanted seats for staff members.

    United Airlines is changing its policy on giving staff last-minute seats on full flights after a man was dragged screaming from an overbooked plane. The airline said that in future crew members would be allocated seats at least an hour before departure.

    Chile expands Patagonia national parks with Tompkins Foundation donation

    The Tompkins Foundation of one million acres will help form a network of 17 national parks along Patagonia that spans most of Chile.

    Chile set aside 11 million acres of land for national parks aided by the largest private land donation from a private entity to a country. The conservation effort of the Tompkins Foundation helped pave the way for Chile to greatly expand its conservation of the pristine Patagonia wilderness.

    However the airports of Guarulhos (São Paulo), Santos Dumont (Rio de Janeiro), Manaus and Curitiba are most likely to remain under state administration

    Positive outcome of ASSI visit to St Helena Airport

    The St Helena airport has received an ASSI endorsed certification of Air Traffic Services for a twelve month period from 3 April 2017

    Senior Aerodrome Inspector, Justin Rothwell, and Air Traffic Services Inspector, Sarah Lee, from Air Safety Support International (ASSI), the regulator for St Helena Airport, visited the Island recently. The purpose of their visit, according to an official release from the Overseas Territory, was to undertake an audit to consider the extension of the certification of St Helena Airport.
