  Uruguay complains at Mercosur against Argentine resolution limiting ports' transshipments

  

  Uruguay made a formal complaint against Argentina before Mercosur regarding the administration of President Cristina Fernandez decision banning Argentine exports from transshipment in Uruguayan ports. The complaint was filed on Wednesday in Caracas at Subgroup 5 which addresses Mercosur maritime transport by Uruguay's Deputy Transport minister Pablo Genta.

  Business climate in Latam receives 'unfavorable' assessment from Brazil's leading foundation

  

  The business climate (ICE) in Uruguay was down in the third quarter of the year, which means the country dropped from position 5 to 7 in the ranking of the eleven economies contemplated in the index elaborated by the Brazilian Getulio Vargas Foundation and Germany's respected IFO.

  Uruguay and US reach sanitary agreement on boneless lamb, beef, offal and live cattle

  

  Boneless and matured lamb and mutton from Uruguay will have access to the United States market as of next 29 November. The announcement was made in Montevideo by visiting US Agriculture Under Secretary Edward Avalos, following its publication in the US Federal Registry and means the conclusion of nine years of negotiations.

  Uruguay sends bill to parliament banning ownership of land by foreign companies or governments

  

  The Uruguayan government sent a draft law to parliament Tuesday that would ban the ownership of land by companies if they are in any way linked to foreign countries. The measure states it “aims to avoid the risk of foreign states breaching the sovereignty of the Uruguayan state in the absence of appropriate regulations and occupying a significant position in agricultural activity.”

  Mujica holds cabinet meeting and flies off to Brazil and Venezuela

  

  Uruguayan president Jose Mujica decided to advance Monday's ministerial cabinet for Saturday so that he can fly to Brazil and Venezuela where he is scheduled to meet with Dilma Roussefdf and later Nicolas Maduro. Mujica on Friday al last moment cancelled his trip to Brasilia but will be meeting Rousseff in the southern city of Porto Alegre.

  Mercosur cancels summit until end of January waiting for Cristina Fernandez

  

  The Mercosur summit scheduled for December in Venezuela has been suspended and will most probably take place sometime in late January announced Uruguayan president Jose Mujica who on Friday cancelled a trip to Brasilia to meet with his peer Dilma Rousseff.

  Uruguay October inflation 0.82% and 9.09% in the first ten months of 2013

  

  Uruguay's consumer prices' index increased 0.82% in October, and 8.67% in the last twelve months but 9.09% in the first ten months of the year, according to the latest release from the country's Stats Office, INE.
