  Falklands/Malvinas: Red Cross head of project has arrived in the Islands

  

  The International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC, has reported that final preparations are underway ahead of work to identify the mortal remains of the unidentified Argentine soldiers buried in Darwin cemetery at the Falklands/Malvinas. Laurent Corbaz, head of the project for the ICRC, arrived on Saturday to the Islands. The rest of the team is expected to join him in the coming weeks.

  Falklands: Goose Green commemorates 35th Liberation day

  

  Falkland Islanders who were held prisoner in the Goose Green Community Hall by the invading Argentine forces in 1982, joined with members of the British 3 PARA to commemorate those who died during the battle to liberate the settlement which happened at 13:30 hours May 29th.

  Argentina inaugurates Tierra del Fuego offshore gas deposit which provides 8% of the country's demand

  

  Argentina formally inaugurated the Vega Pleyade gas and condensate deposit off the coast of Tierra del Fuego considered the most austral of its kind in the world, and which has been supplying the country with nine million cubic meters daily since February 2016. The well is operated by French Total (37.5%) together with Wintershall Energy (37.5%) and Panamerican South (25%), demanded an investment of 1.1bn dollars over three years.

  Faurie new Argentine foreign minister; Malcorra resigns for family reasons but will remain as advisor

  

  Argentine Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra resigned on Monday and will move to Madrid to be closer to her family, President Mauricio Macri announced. Argentina's ambassador to France, Jorge Faurie, will be the new foreign minister and Malcorra will continue as an adviser to the government from afar.

  Malvinas Veterans acclaimed as they parade in Buenos Aires

  

  Hundreds of Malvinas veterans were applauded and acclaimed as they marched through Buenos Aires on Friday May 27th as part of the May Revolution 207 anniversary commemorations. Veterans closed the traditional military parade along two kilometers, which this year assembled 6.000 troops from all branches plus an air pass of aircraft and helicopters.
