  Falklands announces new demolitions on Friday, as part of the demining project

  

  Falklands Islands demining project is advancing steadily and demolitions are planned for next Friday in the Moody Valley, west of Stanley. The demolitions are part of the several phases, several years, project to clear the Falklands of the mines planted by the Argentine military during the occupation of the Islands in 1982.

  Argentina protests with Brasilia over Falklands RAF flights calling in Brazil

  

  The Argentine government reiterated on Monday its disappointment with the UK military flights linking with the Falkland Islands and calling in Brazil. “We made a complaint to Brazil regarding flights and we have also instructed our embassy in the UK”, said Malcorra speaking to the media.

  Falklands governor will deliver the Queen's Commonwealth message

  

  A full program of activities has been planned for this Monday, Commonwealth Day, by the Falkland Islands government. Students and staff from the Falklands Community School will raise the Commonwealth Flag at 08:00, and an hour later the Falklands Junior School together with Defence Force, FIDF, officers will raise the Commonwealth Flag on Victory Green, and the Speaker is to read the Commonwealth Affirmation.

  Young Falkland Islanders with a taste for politics will be holding this Monday a special meeting of the Commonwealth Day Youth Parliament. The event will take place beginning at 10:00 at the Chamber of Commerce and is open to the public wishing to attend.A distinguished witness of the debate will be HMA Anwar Choudhury, British ambassador to Peru.

  Argentine Nobel Peace wants to dialogue with “Malvinas inhabitants”, ruled by a “colonial government”

  

  An Argentine delegation linked to human rights groups is en route to the Falkland Islands with a “message of dialogue, peace and demilitarization”, hoping to meet Islanders, express support for the identification process of unknown combatants buried in Darwin cemetery, collect evidence on abuses committed by Argentine officers during the 1982 conflict, but also claim sovereignty and reject “militarization” of the Islands.

  Falklands' Fortuna donates £30,000 to FIOGA and celebrates 30 years of business

  

  The Overseas Games Association received a generous £30,000 from fishing company Fortuna Ltd to be used to purchase sports kit for the competitors at this year’s Island Games in Gotland. Presenting the cheque Fiona Wallace said that as the wholly-Falkland Islander owned company was celebrating its 30th anniversary, it was felt appropriate to support a nationally significant event.

  Argentine delegation reminded Falkland Islanders have rights

  

  A remainder of the rights of Falkland Islanders has been included in an open letter from the Falklands Government to a delegation of Argentines due to arrive Saturday. They are part of the Comisión Provincial de la Memoria CPM, an independent non-governmental organization.
