While some have expressed favor others have reservations and questions.

    Pemex loss of US$ 18bn in fourth quarter; blames weaker Peso and declining oil fields

    Pemex lost 151 billion pesos during the fourth quarter due to a weaker peso, the company said, which depreciated 8% against the U.S. dollar.

    Mexican state-owned oil company Pemex reported a nearly US$18 billion fourth-quarter loss on Monday after both crude output and processing slid, though the company said refining levels should rebound as major maintenance plans are completed. The company posted a 352.3bn (US$17.9bn) peso loss for the last quarter of 2017, blaming a weaker peso exchange rate and higher financing costs for its performance, according to a filing with the Mexican stock exchange.

    OAS urges Venezuela to reconsider its electoral process

    The text of the resolution seeks to “urge the Government of Venezuela to reconsider the premature convocation of presidential elections”

    The Organization of American States (OAS) was meeting in Washington on Tuesday from 10:00 AM local time on the subject of Venezuela and “the latest events” that have occurred in the Caribbean country. 19 of the 24 members voted in favor of a resolution calling on Venezuela to postpone the elections scheduled for April.

    US share of global sales of soybean and grains to shrink as South American competition grows

    However US market share will fall below 30% by 2027 due to competition from Brazil, Argentina and Ukraine.

    The U.S. Department of Agriculture sees U.S. corn and soybean exports generally increasing over the coming decade but the U.S. share of global sales will shrink as competition from South American producers heats up, the government said in its annual report.

    Fujimori, 79, was pardoned by the current Peruvian president, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, on December 24 on humanitarian grounds because of ill health.

    A Peruvian court ordered former president Alberto Fujimori on Monday to stand trial for the 1992 killings of six farmers, arguing that he lacks immunity despite a recent pardon for a different crime. The National Criminal Court said the pardon granted to Fujimori in a human rights case for which he was serving a 25-year sentence did not apply to the murders of the group.
