Reception in UK embassy for Uruguayan Chevening scholars

The British embassy in Uruguay organized a pre-departure event for the Chevening scholars who will study masters degrees at UK universities in 2017-18. After a presentation on the Chevening experience and what awaits them upon their arrival in the United Kingdom, the ambassador offered a reception for them and their families, authorities, alumni and members of the Graduates from British Universities Association, GBUA.

“No progress” on Brexit UK/EU Brussels talks: both sides hold on to their positions

Paraguayan guerrillas kidnap two Mennonite farmers in less than two weeks

A Paraguayan guerrilla group kidnapped on Friday a young Mennonite farmer in central Paraguay in an area where similar abductions have taken place. Bernard Blatz Friessen, 22, was driving a pickup while his father followed in a harvester, when he was attacked by several men with heavy guns who opened fire on the tires of the two vehicles.

August inflation in Euro zone reaches 1.5%; Unemployment unchanged at 9.1%

The inflation rate in the Euro zone rose to a higher-than-expected 1.5% in August, according to Eurostat, the European Union's statistics office. The preliminary estimate for the month was up from July's rate of 1.3%.
