    UK fully recognizes the priorities of Gibraltar, ministers tell the Rock delegation

    Chief Minister Fabian Picardo described the meeting as “very helpful” with “very positive progress for Gibraltar as a result”.

    The UK said it continued to work with Gibraltar towards a Brexit deal that “fully recognizes the priorities of the Rock”. The Department for Exiting the European Union made the statement after the seventh meeting of the Joint Ministerial Council between the United Kingdom and Gibraltar Governments, which took place in London at the Cabinet Office on Monday morning.

    Foreign Office minister for Europe and the Americas Sir Alan Duncan represented the UK in the inauguration of the new president of Chile, Sebastian Piñera. Minister Duncan arrived in Santiago on Saturday and part of his agenda is to discuss the future of UK-Chile bilateral relations with the incoming administration.

    UK/Gibraltar will establish a consultation mechanism on trade agreements

    “It’s been a real, collegiate and substantive engagement on issues that matter,” CM Picardo said. “We’re in the detail now and that’s where we need to be.”

    UK and Gibraltar will establish a mechanism to ensure Gibraltar is consulted on any trade agreements negotiated by Britain outside the EU, both governments said in a joint statement.

    Falkland Islanders and their supporters met in London on the 13th of June for the annual Liberation Day Reception. This time it was special - it marked the 35th anniversary of the war. Guest of honour was Sir Alan Duncan, just re-appointed as Foreign Office Minister with responsibility for the Falklands; this was his first outside engagement.

    Argentina authorizes a low cost airline to fly Falklands/Comodoro Rivadavia

    The American Jet fifteen-year concession must begin operations “in the next 180 days” following attainment of the Air Service Provider Certificate.

    The Argentine Ministry of Transport awarded American Jet authorization for an air link between Comodoro Rivadavia, in Patagonia and the Falkland Islands, according to Resolution 136-E/2017 published in the Official Gazette and signed by minister Guillermo Dietrich.

    Falklands' Police appealing to Darwin cemetery visitors to advance damages' investigation

    Falklands' Police are appealing for anyone who has visited the cemetery during December/January to contact them.

    The Royal Falkland Islands Police are continuing to investigate reported damage within the Argentine Cemetery near Darwin which was discovered during the last week of January. The damage refers to the vandalized case containing a statue of the Virgin of Lujan, and the image, overlooking the lines of crosses at the cemetery.
