  The Falkland Islands Government announced on Tuesday the appointment of Richard Hyslop as the new UK Representative, succeeding Sukey Cameron MBE who retires from the post in October 2019, after 36 years of service within FIG, 29 of which were as UK Representative.

  The Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly has confirmed that Barry Rowland has agreed a year-long contract extension as Chief Executive, taking his term of employment to October 2020.

  The Falkland Islands Government announced on Tuesday that terms have been agreed, subject to contract and planning, for the sale of a 15.2 acre site to Argos Developments Ltd. with the purpose of encouraging private investment in house building.

  Falklands voice dismay and praise for second commercial flight

  

  The proposed second airline service between the Falklands and South America with a once a month stopover in Argentina, drew both strongly voiced concerns and praise at a public meeting held on Wednesday evening in Stanley. Worried citizens suggested Argentina might manipulate Islanders by threatening to interrupt the link to Sao Paulo, Brazil in the longer term.

  Falkland Islands second air link announcement expected after June 13th

  

  The Falkland Islands government announced on Wednesday it has received an evaluation report regarding a second weekly air link to the Falklands, from specialist consulting Aviation Economics, and will be briefing the Executive Council at their 13 June meeting, and recommending a response to the proposed options.

  Falklands' second weekly commercial air link talks take off, and should crystallize by next October

  

  The United Kingdom and Argentina, following on the September 2016 joint communiqué to establish additional air links with the Falkland Islands, jointly announced on Friday that third country airlines interested in such operations will be contacted. It is expected that by the end of February the commercial process will be initiated, led by the Falkland Islands, and sometime next October the new weekly air link, with a monthly call in Argentina, will become operational.
