  Falklands police has staff shortage; drink driving and speeding the main concerns

  

  The Falkland Islands are short of uniformed police officers, was made public at the Police Committee meeting by Inspector and Acting Chief of Police Barry Thacker. A recruitment process has been started, and in the meantime the Royal Falkland Islands Police (RFIP) is using detectives in uniform, management, and reserve police officers to provide the policing service as well as relying on officers to work on rest days.

  Reappointments made to the Marine Management Organization Board

  

  Solicitor, Falkland Islands former Attorney General and SAERI Chair Peter Judge MBE, together with David Lyall have been reappointed to the Board of the Marine Management Organization. MMO has a wide range of responsibilities, which include implementing plan-led marine management, licensing marine works, and managing UK fishing fleet capacity and UK fisheries quotas.

  The United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association in a release expressed solidarity with the UK and the international community in denouncing Russia's military action against Ukraine. The statement was released by the President of the Political Council of UKOTA and Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Hon. C. Washington Misick, on the Overseas Territories’ implementation of the United Kingdom’s sanctions against Russia.

  Sailors on a Royal Navy warship have proved a remote Pacific island has been in the 'wrong place' for 85 years. Henderson Island in the South Pacific is one mile south of the position marked on charts used by mariners the world over since 1937.
