  South Korea interested in becoming associate member of the Pacific Alliance

  

  South Korea and Chile agreed on Wednesday to bolster substantive bilateral partnerships in various sectors on the basis of their free trade agreement (FTA). Korean foreign minister Kang Kyung-wha and his Chilean counterpart Roberto Ampuero held talks on the sidelines of a regional meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Hanoi, according to Kang's ministry.

  Eleven Latin American countries say that they have agreed to allow Venezuelans leaving their homeland to enter their countries even if their travel documents have expired. More than 2.3 million Venezuelans have fled the country's hyperinflation and severe shortages, but many do not have valid passports because renewing them can take years.

  Falkland Island’s participation in International hockey tournaments at Patagonia

  

  This year the Falkland Islands teams competed in two international ice hockey tournaments. Firstly two of our player/coaches took part in The Patagonian Brotherhood Cup held in Puerto Williams. They competed as part of the rest of the world team with players from other countries eventually taking 3rd place.

  Chile reduces air boarding taxes by 20%, effective September first

  

  Chilean Minister of Finance Jose Ramon Valente, via its official Twitter account, announced a “20% reduction in the boarding taxes, which will reduce air fares” in the country, both for international and domestic flights. He added “traveling overseas no longer is a privilege for the well off”.

  Chilean Supreme Court seizes US$ 1.6m assets from Pinochet family

  

  Chile's Supreme Court ordered the seizure of more than US$1.6 million from the assets of the late dictator Gen. Augusto Pinochet. The top court also sentenced three former military officers to four years in prison for embezzlement of public funds in a case involving Pinochet, but allowed them to remain free under conditional liberty.
