This contrasts with the rest of the fourteen regions of the country of which six, reported negative growth.

Chile grows 0.8% in Q3, and Central bank leaves basic rate unchanged at 3%

Chile's economy grew 0.8% in the third quarter compared with the same period in 2013, the worst performance in five years, the Central Bank reported Tuesday. The bank also announced that the basic rate will remain unchanged at 3%.

Falklands fourteen young footballers off to Chile for ‘South of the World Cup’

Fourteen young footballers from the Falkland Islands will fly to Punta Arenas, Chile with their coaches on Saturday to take part in the Unifying Continents at the South of the World Cup.The Falklands is entering two teams in the tournament that also includes teams Colegio Aleman, Colegio Cruz del Sur, Colegio Britanico, Leumag, and two teams from Club Deportivo Victoria.

Chilean cruise industry wants to 'catch' 'repeaters' with new options

The official 2014/2015 cruise season was recently launched in Chile with the announcement that in the November/April period an estimated 200.000 passengers with 168 vessels calling, will be visiting the country. However in an interesting twist for the industry, Chileans admit that together with the cruise companies they are intent in concentrating efforts in what is called 'repeaters'.

British and German embassies commemorate 100 years of the Battle of Coronel

British and German Embassies in Santiago organized a commemoration event to mark the 100 years of the Battle of Coronel, off the coast of Chile. A hundred years ago November first 1914, one of the first Naval battles of the First World War between the Royal Navy and the German Navy took place 50 miles off the coast of Coronel.
