  The government of Argentina's Chubut province will seek to delay payments on debt after Buenos Aires province, Argentina's largest, also asked its creditors for extensions as the country grapples with a debt crisis, local media reported on Friday.

  Hanta virus outbreak in a Patagonia Chubut province town

  

  Argentina's northern province of Jujuy has reported a first case of a patient suffering of the hanta virus contagion. The report is considered very serious since in the Patagonian province of Chubut there have been several deaths and some 85 residents of a town are in quarantine to stop the spread of the virus contagion.

  Argentina undertakes third scientific evaluation survey of Southern king crab

  

  Argentina's National Institute for Fisheries Research and Development, INIDEP, has started a scientific survey aimed at assessing the Southern king crab (Lithodes santolla) in its central Patagonian distribution area. This is the third consecutive year in which the survey is carried out and includes the San Jorge Gulf and platform waters, between 43° 30 'and 48° South latitude, in jurisdictions of the Nation, and Chubut and Santa Cruz provinces.

  Chubut province declared in state of emergency and agriculture disaster

  

  Chubut province in Argentine Patagonia has been declared in state of emergency and eight of its 16 counties in agriculture disaster as a consequence of torrential rainfall and mudslides which have left huge areas isolateds, or cut off from the communications network.

  Argentina considering phasing out Patagonian ports' fisheries exports

  

  The Argentine government is considering phasing out the incentives which benefit Patagonian ports fisheries exports. The announcement was made by Jorge Metz, Ports Under Secretary during a recent visit to Bahía Blanca although pointing out the issue was still under consideration by the cabinet chief office, but some advances would be made public in a month's time.

  Argentina's Cabinet Chief Anibal Fernandez and the Presidential Legal and Technical secretary Carlos Zannini led on Monday celebrations in Chubut to mark the 150th anniversary of the Welsh community that settled in the Patagonian province. The event took place in Puerto Madryn overlooking the Golfo Nuevo.
