Falkland Islands voters rejected the proposal of a single constituency, to eliminate the current two-system of Camp and the city Stanley, which was put to a referendum on Thursday November 3.
Former member of the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly, Mike Summers has been voted back into the government by a substantial margin. Voting took place in Stanley on Thursday in a by-election, which saw 51% of the electorate going to the polls.
Argentina on Tuesday is scheduled to make its annual presentation before the United Nations Decolonisation Committee on the Malvinas Islands question, as it has been doing since 1989.
Britain again categorically rejected any Falkland Islands sovereignty negotiations with Argentina and reiterated that London’s position on the issue “has not changed at all”. However “as has been standing policy”, the UK is always ready to discuss issues of common interest in the South Atlantic.
The Falkland Islands ended the approval process for the 2011/2012 budget, following the positive report from Financial Secretary Keith Padgett to the Legislative Assembly budget session.

At least four candidates will stand for election at the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly by-election (Stanley constituency) on June 23; only one of which has never taken up a place in former Legislative Assemblies.
