The Falkland Islands will be holding a parade to celebrate the birthday of the Queen at Victory Green on Saturday 21st April 2018. The parade will form up at Victory Green at 10.20 hours and Governor Nigel Phillips CBE will arrive at 10.30 hours.
The Falkland Islands also joined Royal Air Force centenary celebrations. Despite poor weather the hangar event held at Mount Pleasant Complex, MPC, to celebrate RAF 100 the Royal Air Force Centenary (April 1) “went off perfectly,” according to spokesperson for the event.
Over the past decade it is has become customary for a newly elected Legislative Assembly in the Falkland Islands to publish an ‘Islands Plan’. As there are no political parties in the Falkland Islands, all eight members of the Assembly are independents. Therefore there is no collective manifesto when elected to office. This has traditionally been addressed via a consensus-based Islands Plan.

Argentina's Defense minister has sparked a political storm after appearing to imply the Falkland Islands are British. Oscar Aguad has been accused by the Buenos Aires media of suggesting that the Islands were not part of Argentine territory.
Italian energy group Edison, part of French utility EDF, is preparing the sale of its oil and gas unit, the latest power producer to abandon fossil fuels to focus on its retail business, four industry sources said, and quoted by Reuters. Its oil and gas unit includes interests in the Falkland Islands.
Wednesday marked the opening ceremony of the 21st Commonwealth Games which are being held from 4 -15 April at the Gold Coast in Australia. This is the tenth Commonwealth Games that the Falkland Islands have participated in and this time they will be competing alongside more than 6,600 athletes and team officials from 70 Commonwealth nations and territories.
The Falkland Islands Government has published The Islands Plan 2018-2022, which sets out its ambitions for improving the prosperity, health and wealth of people across the Falklands over the next four years.
